Change a Life
We help to meet the needs of the families we serve based on their specific circumstances.
Rather than merely handing out donations, we focus on two areas:
Facilitating a dignified environment and providing for the basic needs of vulnerable children, and/or partnering with families who are already investing in their own development.
The Urrutia Family
Bertha lovingly and willingly took on the responsibility of caring for her two nephews, Carlos and Felipe, and niece, Karen, who is only 14 years old and suffers from a medical condition called hydrocephalus.
This family has continued to struggle to make ends meet in their tiny rented home. They need a home of their own as they continue to take steps toward self-sufficiency. Project RED shared the cost of a piece of land with the family. Thanks to some very special donors, we were able to build them a home, complete with a bathroom, running water, electricity, a shower and area for washing and a cooking area.
Their lives are forever changed, thanks to their own investment in their own family!
The Rivera Family
Juan had a very difficult start to life, which resulted in neurological and physical disabilities. When her mother passed away, he was placed to live with his great aunt and uncle, who live in extreme poverty. With agriculture as their only source of income, the family could not afford to replace the outhouse bathroom that they so desperately needed.
Outhouse bathrooms (or outdoor septic tanks) may not seem like much to most of us–but for a child living in extreme poverty, it is life-changing. Project RED was able to build a bathroom for the Rivera family, helping to provide a safe and sanitary environment for Juan.
Project RED also facilitated initial medical care so that Juan could receive a proper diagnosis. Through the public health system, his aunt is now able to pick up his medications every month. Juan will be able to receive the medical care he needs on a long-term basis, thanks to this support.
Our team assesses the physical and emotional needs of each family we serve. These needs are then published for our supporters to see. Once the need is donated, our team notifies the family and facilitates the process of administering the needs.
